It is now realised that health measures and environmental protection are crucial for economic development yet these are not translated into adequate political commitments in the country. In spite of increase in international trade in herbal medicines worldwide its potential has not been fully utilised. Medicinal plants are among the best candidates for greening the country,providing health care and generating employment and income to the people.Swami Ramdev and NMO should come forward to be pioneer in this direction.
